Sofya started her musical studies at the age of 5 at the St. Petersburg Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov. After completing 5 grades at the Conservatory, Sofya and her family immigrated to United States.

Here, at the age of 13, Sofya was accepted into Mannes School of Music and studied with the renowned teacher Arkadiy Aronov.

After graduating with highest honors from Mannes School of Music, Sofya began her Bachelor of Music Degree in Manhattan School of Music, continuing her education with Arkadiy Aronov. Sofya graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 1988.

After graduation, Sofya took some time off to raise her family. During that time, she was involved in the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

Sofya is a well-established teacher who loves to share her knowledge of music with her students. She is fluent in both Russian and English.
